Hello Baby
The Minimalist Hospital Bag Checklist
Packing for the hospital can feel overwhelming. Do you need three outfits or ten? What does the hospital actually provide?
As a mom-owned business, we have been there, and we know that when it comes to packing for labor, less is often more.
We have curated the ultimate list of essentials—focused on comfort, function, and those precious first photos—so you can zip up your bag with confidence.

For Mom: Labor & Recovery
The hospital will provide diapers, wipes, and a basic hat. You only need to pack for the "Going Home" moment.
The First Photo Gown
Let's be honest—you don't want your first photo with your newborn to feature a drab, unisex hospital gown that ties in the back. Our Milk & Baby Labor Gowns are designed for this moment. They feature:
- Snaps for epidurals/IVs
- Full chest access for Golden Hour skin-to-skin
- Beautiful design that looks great in photos
Nursing-Friendly Sleepwear
Pack a soft Nursing Robe and tank for recovery. You want easy access for those frequent checks and feeds.
Toiletries
Hospitals are incredibly dry! Don't forget:
- Lip balm
- Hair tie
- Travel shampoo
- Your favorite moisturizer
Cozy Extras
Non-negotiables:
- Grip socks (hospital floors are cold!)
- Extra-long phone charger

What to Leave at Home
Save space in your bag by skipping these items
Diapers & Wipes:Â The hospital has plenty.
Jewelry & Valuables:Â It is best to leave expensive items safely at home.
Stiff Clothing: You will want soft, stretchy fabrics for the ride home—leave the jeans for later.
