Snickers and Candy Corn are not good options for babies and toddlers, but when we get home from trick-or-treating of course that's what our babies have in their buckets. We want the little ones to safely join in the fun. So, here are five ways to share the ghoulish holiday spirit with babies and toddlers.
1. Cherrios and puffed rice are tried and true go-to treats for babies. Why mess with a good thing? We know they love them! Buy a fun and festive container from the craft store and fill it with Cherrios or puffed rice. Voila! Baby has a trustworthy treat with a twist of fun for Halloween. 2. Ages and stages baby food is an easy way to introduce Halloween to babies. Many of the containers are clear plastic. All you need is an orange-colored food like, carrots, Mandarin oranges, squash, etc... Then take a sharpie and have a blast making it into a jack-o-lantern or anything you want!

Another guaranteed young person food pleaser are Gold Fish Crackers. For these, create fun baggies. These are great for handing out to young ones who trick-or-treat at your door. This works for any kind of cereal for older toddlers who can handle a little more sugar in their basket.

Make your own Popsicles! These are fun and, like the one pictured, can make a great healthy alternative to an otherwise forbidden treat for young ones. Candy Corn is choking hazard for young children. Just layer yogurt, orange juice, and pineapple juice to great a better "candy corn" treat. |
For really small babies, teething biscuits are a great option. Little ones will enjoy the treat and playing with mom. Don't overdo it just yet. They will have their fun in a year or two. Have fun with infant costumes with your infant. If you need ideas we have a few posted here. |

Kate,
Yes, you are correct. These would not be practical for a trunk or treat for 1200 people! This is more for a small party at home for friends. But, that’s something great to think about for a blog post next year!

Milk & Baby
It is Nov 1 and my church held a “Trunk or Treat” event last night. We had 1200 people come through our parking lot and there were MANY babies and toddlers. Obviously, these children were too young for our typical treats and the parents were going to eat the candy. Some of your suggestions for treats are great but are not practical for the volume of babies/toddlers we see. The popsicles are so cute but not happening for me I’m afraid, and bagging my own individual bags of Cheerios or Goldfish is also a no go. Whatever is given out needs to be commercially packaged and sealed for safety and inexpensive enough for up wards of 200. I’ll keep looking. I’ve got a whole year to find something for next year
