Top Must-Have Essentials When Bringing Home Baby - Milk & Baby

So, you’re getting close to bringing your little bundle of joy home...

and you want to set yourself up for success. We at milk & baby know what a special time this is for new moms and want to help. In the spirit of moming, we’ve collected sage advice from veteran moms all across the land to help you out. There’s a sisterhood of seasoned mama’s out here that have learned a thing or two.

Homemade frozen food to last 3 months

This may seem like a lot of work, but for your baby shower, you could ask guests to bring freezer food

Cute & comfy loungewear

Sometime what you wear can influence how you feel. Have soft and cute pjs that double as loungewear are a great alternative to old t-shirts and leggings. Easy nursing access is a must have.

A list of chores that you can ask people to do when they come to visit.

Keep a list handy or post it on your fridge. Refer to is EVERY TIME someone comes over and asks if they can help.

A Nursing Bra

Nursing bras are designed to change with your body and are a big help in your breastfeeding relationship.

A  portable diaper caddie

This way you can have access to change baby’s diaper in the room you spend most time in, and be able to bring it to your room at night.

Healthy grab-and-go snacks & a water cup

Nursing moms are often hungry all the time, so keeping healthy snacks at the ready is a great way to set yourself up for not grabbing the junk food. Also, staying hydrated is key.

Postpartum supplies

Having a basket all set up in the bathroom with you postpartum supplies can be a life saver.

A peri bottle, pads, ice packs, tucks, are great.

You can make homemade ice packs by soaking large pads and newborn diapers in water than freezing

A dim light

If you can keep from turning bright lights on during midnight feeding and diapers changes, it helps to keep baby calm and  maybe you both can go back to sleep.

Carrier, wrap or better yet a skin to skin top

Keeping baby close is great for you and baby. It’s soothing and helps with your milk supply. Practicing skin-to-skin at home is one of the best things you can do!

We hope these were really helpful for you. Of course you can always check in our shop for some of the basic stuff you’ll want. And remember, there’s no such thing as being completely prepared and ready. Take what works for you and you’re doing a great job mama!
